You can't install Node.js on the machine; the server component requires it.
About MCP Unity
MCP Unity implements the Model Context Protocol for the Unity Editor. A Unity package bridges to a bundled Node.js MCP server, so assistants can execute menu items, select and modify GameObjects and query scenes, with MCP resources and prompts alongside the tools. It also adds Unity's package cache to VS Code-style workspaces to improve code intelligence for Unity packages.
MCP Unity is an open-source project written primarily in C#, with 1.9k stars on GitHub. It was last updated in September 2026.
